Hoffmann Park is about to get a bit of a facelift as members of the Lower Mainland Green Team prepare to host their first Pitt Meadows event in 2024.
On Saturday, March 30, the team of volunteers will be getting their hands dirty to remove a bunch of invasive English ivy, Himalayan blackberries, and English holly from Hoffmann Park, explained Green Team program coordinator Andrea Robles.
“We have a big goal for this activity - clear as much space as possible to make room to plant hundreds of native trees and shrubs in celebration of Earth Day at our April 21 activity at this location,” said Robles.
“The more invasive plants we remove on March 30, the more native species we can get planted on April 21.”

Robles said that many people have already signed up for both events, with the March 30 cleanup currently being waitlisted.
Anyone, regardless of age or experience level, can attend the Lower Mainland Green Team events.
The Pitt Meadows cleanup this weekend will take place from 9:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., with volunteers meeting at the Hofmann Park trail intersection just off 122nd Avenue.
