Downtown BIA about

improving core business

The Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association is a non-profit organization incorporated March 2007.

It represents all businesses (approximately 700) and property owners (approximately 300) in the designated downtown area and is funded through a property tax levy.

The key purpose of the downtown BIA is to develop, encourage and promote business in Downtown Maple Ridge and to generate revitalization and improvement of the downtown core.

The DMRBIA is governed by a volunteer board of directors comprised of businesses and property owners within the DMRBIA area.

The initial board was appointed on incorporation and the first elected board will be chosen at the annual general meeting, Nov. 8th, 5:30 p.m. in the Maple Ridge council chambers.

The activities of the DMRBIA, including the day-to-day operations, coordinating events and projects and liaising with members, community groups and the District of Maple Ridge, are managed by Ineke Boekhorst, the executive director.

The DMRBIA recognizes the need to revitalize the downtown area of Maple Ridge and to ensure success, the coordinated effort, support and involvement of all members is required.

Through this endeavour, the mission of the DMRBIA is attainable and will result in increased business and tourism, low vacancy rates, improved property values and a viable sustainable community.
