Maple Ridge BIA hosts Girls Night Out

The first Thursday of the month is the day to stay around town.

That's when the Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association holds its Girls Night Out as a means to entice people downtown. Starting at 4 p.m. and continuing until 8 p.m., shoppers can hunt for special bargains put on during those hours by a current list of 33 downtown shops and businesses.

"We've got everything from spas and fitness and shops and restaurants," said Lynne Bradley with the BIA.

The idea is for a couple of friends to plan out the evening and go from one spot to anotherĀ  to cash in on the deals. The list of bargains offered by local businesses is on the BIA website.

The BIA also holds its Amazing Adventure contest Aug. 1 to 31.

The idea is to find clues, complete tasks and discover downtown's secrets and in doing so, get a chance to win a prize.

The contest can be done at your own pace or on race day, Aug. 25. Go to downtownmapleridge.ca.
