Maple Ridge Mountain Festival needs help

Eric Phillips hopes he can revive the Maple Ridge Mountain Festival.

He’s hoping it won’t disappear like several other events that have bitten the dust over the past decade.

“We need some people,” says Phillips as he reminisces about the festival that was a 10-day event when it first started. “We don’t want to see it die because the community needs festival’s like it.”

The Mountain Festival Society has been the force behind three community wood carving projects, but a lack of interest means there will be no event this year.

“A lot of people want to come out and watch it, but to get 12 people to help plan it is impossible,” says Phillips.

The society needs to form a planning committee to help organize the next event.
