Out with the old

Karine Lavoie, with Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue, and her helper, Takoda Lamothe, 9, drag Christmas trees to a chipper Sunday afternoon by Planet Ice on 105th Avenue. Donations raised go towards search and rescue training and equipment. Bartlett Tree Experts loaned the tree chipper and Northview Enterprises Ltd. is disposing the chips. The 1st Haney Ventures and Rovers will also be picking up trees by donation in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. Their donations will be going towards upcoming camps and programs. Tree chipping will take place this weekend, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. To arrange for a pick-up call 604-244-2850 or go to scoutchipping@gmail.com.
