Pitt Meadows firefighters will be collecting food and toy donations for needy families on Saturday, Dec. 14.

Members of fire department  will be accepting donations at various locations throughout Pitt Meadows from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Look for firefighters outside various businesses at Meadowtown and Meadowvale shopping centres.

All food items collected will be in support the Friends in Need Food Bank, located at 12240 Harris Road, in Grace Community Church in Pitt Meadows.

Toy donations are in support of the Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows Christmas Hamper Society, a non-profit charity that helps needy families in the area during the holiday season.

Cash donations in support of these charities are also accepted and will be split equally between the two charities

Look for the firefighters outside of the following locations:

The Real Canadian Superstore – 19800 Lougheed Highway – Meadowtown Centre

BC Signature Liquor Store – 19800 Lougheed Highway – Meadowtown Centre

IGA – 19150 Lougheed Highway – Meadowvale Shopping Mall

Starbucks Coffee  – located in Meadowvale Shopping Mall
