KEEPS is inviting everyone to the Bell Irving Hatchery on Sunday for its annual Goodbye Chums festival.

The Kanaka Education and Environmental Partnership Society, along with Metro Vancouver parks will be hosting the annual spring event, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m..

“It’s a chance for people to come out and release some chum salmon fry and find out what’s going on with the hatchery,” said Ross Davies, with KEEPS.

There will be displays and activities put on by the Alouette Field Naturalists and the First 1st Haney Scouts.

Children can learn about salmon at various craft stations and play a salmon survival game.

Information will be available to make a donation to the Kanaka Watershed Stewardship Centre.

Davies will also welcome questions about the Kanaka Creek watershed or any issues that people are having in their own neighbourhoods with wildlife, bears or coyotes.

There will also be a booth with information for anybody who would like to become a volunteer or get involved with the KEEPS organization.

The Bell Irving Hatchery is located at 11450 – 256 Street in Maple Ridge.
