The Olympic flame is fast approaching the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Many Canadians have, and will, help the torch get to the Games, including Poppy Quinlan of Maple Ridge.

“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity,” said the 15-year-old Maple Ridge secondary student.

Quinlan is a national gymnast who competes in trampoline. She was a western Canadian champion in 2006 and last year earned bronze at the Pan American Games in Brazil. She recently won gold in her division at 2009 B.C. championships.

In addition to her athletic accomplishments, she was chosen to carry the torch because of her healthy lifestyle, love for physical fitness, and way of balancing out homework, friends and activities.

Quinlan will carry the torch on Day 101, Feb. 7, in Chilliwack.
