Graduating artists have until this Friday, March 29, to apply for the annual ACT Arts Centre Excellence in Arts Awards, to help fund their post-secondary education.

These awards, a minimum of $1,500, are designed to support the artistic achievements, aspirations, and professional development of graduating seniors who have demonstrated exemplary achievement in the arts. The merit-based awards provide scholarship funds for study at an accredited post-secondary university or college.

Scholarships are intended to support post-secondary tuition and fee expenses. Funding will be released into the account of the post-secondary institution of the applicant’s choice upon proof of registration and class enrollment. Students will have two years following the date of issue to redeem an award.

There were six recipients from Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows secondary schools in 2023, including those studying music, theatre, and visual and media arts. Each received a $2,000 scholarship.

The awards are part The ACT’s annual commitment to supporting the artistic aspirations of young people in the community, and they have been offered for more than 20 years.

The deadline for digital applications is March 29 at 5 p.m. Artists will include an artistic statement, artist’s resume, school marks, reference letters, and examples of their work.
