New member joins Ridge Meadows RCMP Mental Health Unit

Corporal Craig Gibson has more than 18 years experience in RCMP

The Ridge Meadows RCMP Mental Health Unit will have a new member.

Corporal Craig Gibson will be joining the team from the Surrey RCMP detachment.

Gibson has more than 18 years of service, working in the Community Response Unit and the Serious Crime Unit in Surrey.

“I enjoy being out in the community speaking with clients in person,” said Corp. Gibson in a video released by the RCMP, adding he is happy to be serving in this community now, and joining the incredible Ridge Meadows RCMP team.

“Our Mental Health Unit works closely with several community partners in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, by monitoring, engaging with, and making referrals for high risk clients facing mental health challenges. We also provide resources and guidance for other police officers when they respond to calls that require engaging with mental health clients,” he continued.

The Ridge Meadows RCMP Mental Health Unit was formed in 2022 and currently works closely with several community partners in the realm of mental health, addictions, and crisis outreach to provide support, early intervention, and bridging of services.
