A movie classic about human compassion and decency is coming to the stage in Maple Ridge.

The Emerald Pig Theatrical Society is proud to be presenting its production of Terms of Endearment, based on the Pulitzer Prize winning book by Larry McMurtry and James L. Brooks’s screenplay of the Oscar-winning film..

A story about a mother and daughter whose challenges in life and love test the resiliency of their relationship, captures the delicate and sometimes fractured bonds between not only mothers and daughters, but also husbands and wives, and lovers – both old and new.

According to a Playscripts description, Emma is often exasperated by her highly-opinionated mother, Aurora. The pair talk every day about their problems – from Aurora finding unexpected love even as she becomes a reluctant grandmother, to Emma’s struggle in her troubled marriage.

But when life throws them the ultimate challenge, they discover how strong their relationship really is.

Adapted for the stage by Dan Gordon, the play is both touching and funny.

Pitt Meadows resident Angela Bell, is director of Terms of Endearment, featuring Kate Du Cros of Port Moody as Aurora Greenway, Paige Conzatti of Coquitlam as Emma, Henry Bartak of Pitt Meadows as Garret Breedlove, Paul Sawyer of Maple Ridge as Flap, Anita Kitkowski of Pitt Meadows as Patsy/the nurse, and Simon Challenger of Maple Ridge as Rudyard/Dr. Maise.
