Five Grade 12 students in the school district were awarded $1,000 scholarships from The ACT Arts Centre.

Scholarship recipients were chosen based on a combination of demonstrated artistic impression, technical skill and level of presentation, grades relating to the artistic category, personal resume and planned attendance at a post-secondary institution.

This years recipients are Alex Waite from Thomas Haney secondary for the Visual and Media Arts Scholarship, Victoria Caitlin Dufficy of Garibaldi secondary for the Theatre Scholarship in memory of Amy Wallis, Brianna MacDonald of Maple Ridge Secondary for the Dance Scholarhip, Boyana Makedonska of Pitt Meadows secondary for the Music Scholarship in memory of Judith Bergthorson and Georgia Masaki of Maple Ridge Secondary for the Literary Scholarship.

The scholarships are applicable to any accredited post-secondary institution in support of the student’s continued arts education.

They will be handed out by the ACT Arts Centre awards committee, Susan Chambers, Brad Tones and Laura Butler, at graduating ceremonies.
