Carly Rae Jepsen signs with Justin Bieber's management
It is shaping up to be a very exciting year for 26-year-old Mission singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen.
Her 2011 hit single Call Me Maybe just hit platinum and she's the newest addition to Schoolboy Records, the label run by Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun.
Jepsen, 26, was performing on MuchMusic’s New Music Live last week, when she was interrupted by a pre-recorded video message from Bieber, announcing she'd been picked up by Schoolboy.
“When I was actually in Canada, I heard a song on the radio called Call Me Maybe, and I immediately fell in love with the song,” said Bieber in the video. “I thought it was a smash. I just wanted to tell everybody that we signed her, so everyone go check her out... she’s going to blow up.”
He even hinted that a collaboration with Jepsen was possible.
The announcement coincided with the release of Canadian Idol runner-up's sophomore album Curiosity.
Jepsen, who grew up in Maple Ridge and Mission, is currently on tour with Hanson.
“I feel shocked and speechless and I'm very grateful,” said an overwhelmed Jepsen on New. Music. Live. “It’s a very cool adventure to go on and I couldn’t be more excited.”
