Wynette to join Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame
NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Reuters) - The late Tammy Wynette will be inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame at a formal ceremony on October 18, officials said on Tuesday.
Wynette, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame who died in 1998, co-wrote her signature song "Stand By Your Man" and the hit "Til I Can Make It On My Own."
Awards also will be handed out for the year's best song, songwriter and songwriter/artist.
Other inductees this year are Kye Fleming, who wrote Ronnie Milsap's "Smoky Mountain Rain" and Barbara Mandrell's "I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool;" and Mark Sanders, who wrote Lee Ann Womack's "I Hope You Dance" and Faith Hill's "It Matters To Me."
