Police are looking for a man and woman who were caught rummaging through a car that was parked in downtown Maple Ridge Wednesday night.
Around 11:25 p.m., the owner of the vehicle spotted the pair inside her car, which was in a parking lot off Dewdney Trunk Road, near 223rd Street.
Ridge Meadows RCMP said the woman called out to the pair, asking what they were doing inside her car.
The woman said "sorry" and then fled the area with her male accomplice, taking nothing from the vehicle.
The woman was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and the man was wearing jeans and a leather jacket.
The car had a defective lock on one of its doors that needed repairs.
"The thieves were able to access the vehicle through the unlocked door," said Cpl. Alanna Dunlop.
"Police would like to remind citizens to ensure that all locks on their vehicles are in good working order. Locking your vehicle and using an anti-theft device makes your vehicle less attractive to thieves."
