Woman missing at Pitt Lake found
A 25-year-old woman who had gone missing Thursday night in a remote area near Pitt Lake has been found by a citizen who was flying his own helicopter.
The pilot picked the victim up north of where she had been reported missing, and flew her back to Grant Narrows Regional Park where she was reunited with her family.
Ridge Meadows RCMP said the woman suffered scrapes and bruises, but these appear to be minor.
Friends of the 25-year-old called police around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night to report the woman had disappeared.
Ridge Meadows RCMP contacted Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue, which mustered a group of volunteers to conduct a ground search throughout the night.
The RCMP helicopter and a police dog were brought in Friday morning.
Sgt. Dale Somerville said the woman was missing in a very remote are, only accessible by plane or boat.
People from the Pitt River Fishing Lodge also joined in the search.
Somerville thanked everyone who spent the night searching for the woman.
