Ridge Meadows Mountie charged with fraud
An officer with the Ridge Meadows RCMP detachment is facing charges for forging a document while on duty.
Const. Curtis Genest faces one count each of uttering a forged document and fraud.
Police allege Genest submitted an altered internal administrative document on July 2. An investigation into the allegations began the same day and eventually resulted in criminal charges which were sworn in Port Coquitlam Provincial Court Aug. 20.
"It is alleged he forged a document and passed it off as being genuine, which is an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada” said Insp. David Fleugel, acting officer in charge of Ridge Meadows RCMP.
“Honesty and integrity are values that every police officer must demonstrate each and every day without fail. As the matter is before the courts we are not able to provide any further information or comment at this time."
Const. Genest is currently on administrative duties and will face an internal disciplinary review.
He is set to appear in court Sept. 19.
