Gaming centre opens its doors Oct. 23
Opening date has been set for the new gaming centre at the newest intersection in Maple Ridge.
Chances Maple Ridge opens Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. in the new building at 227th Street and Lougheed Highway after an 11-month construction period.
The new centre will have 200 bingo seats, both electronic and paper, a bar-restaurant, meeting space, and slot machines.
Following the ceremony the band, Atlantic Crossing will take to the stage, followed by a dueling pianos performance. In addition, a caricature artist, magician and show girls will entertain guests.
“We are excited to open Chances Maple Ridge and offer our guests a diverse and memorable entertainment experience,” said Andy LaCroix, general manager Chances Maple Ridge.
The opening will mean the current Haney Bingo Plex building on 224th Street will become vacant, though possibly not for long.
Co-owner of the building Bernie Stoelzle said he’s had discussions with possible new tenants who may want to locate across from the new Target store, which opens this fall in Haney Place Mall.
“People have to realize how big an impact Target will have on the downtown. The way I see it, it should have a good impact.”
Nothing’s been finalized, but Stoelzle is confident a tenant will be found, adding the goal is to secure a national retailer.
“We’d prefer that, but we’re open to anything.”
