Ridge Meadows RCMP have identified human remains found Friday in Maple Ridge as a woman who has been missing for two months.

Anita Young was last seen by her family on Oct. 5.

Police conducted an extensive search to find the 44-year-old but failed to locate her.

Her neighbourhood was canvassed by officers and Ridge-Meadows traffic services set up a road block mid-October to hand out pamphlets to commuters.

"Police were very concerned of her mental well-being, and this never changed throughout the search for her," said Sgt. Dale Somerville.

Young was found by a man on a rural property in east Maple Ridge.

Police are now working with the B.C. Coroner’s office to determine a cause of death. Somerville added foul play is not suspected at this time.

"Ridge Meadows RCMP want to thank all of our community partners and citizens, especially Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue, [which] went above and beyond to try and locate Ms. Young. Police want to pass along our condolences to Anita’s family.”
