For the record

A story in the April 4 issue of The News (Coun. Bell freezing own expenses) gave incorrect expense amounts for Maple Ridge Coun. Corisa Bell. In 2012, Bell had a total of $6,681 in expenses. In 2013, her expenses amounted to $8,199. That adds up to $14,880, just below the $15,000 alotted to councillors for training and conferences during their three-year term. She hasn't expensed any other items and paid for her own $125 ticket to the Economic Development Association dinner in 2014. Coun. Al Hogarth also exceeded the $5,000 yearly amount in 2013, claiming $5,962, but also remaining within the three-year spending limit. Mayor Ernie Daykin exceeded his $6,500 allocation in 2012 by spending $6,838 but also remains within the global three-year amount.
