Police have blocked off a portion of 240th Street near 104th Avenue, where a man was shot dead Tuesday night.

A man was shot dead on a Maple Ridge street Tuesday night.

Ridge Meadows RCMP were called to 240th Street near 103rd Avenue after residents reported hearing gun shots.

When they arrived on scene, they found a man suffering from gun shot injuries. He was rushed to hospital but did not survive.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called and remained on scene Wednesday morning searching for clues.

A section of 240th Street at 104th Avenue has been shut down while police investigate.

Police are scheduled to release more details later today.
