Ridge Meadows RCMP recovered a child’s customized bicycle after it was stolen from a garage that was mistakenly left open.

On May 6, a Maple Ridge resident noticed the family’s garage door had been left open. and sometime during the night, more than $4,000 worth of items were stolen from it.

Among the items was a boy’s bicycle that was custom built by the owner’s uncle.

On May 7, officers patrolled the area where the theft occurred and “came upon a set of golf clubs at a home where the sport was probably foreign to the people who frequent this property.”

Police then learned the golf clubs had been listed on a stolen property report, as had a unique bicycle helmet that was lying nearby.

“Acting on the new lead, police patrolled to other areas, where stolen property might be located, and again police were successful, as the bike was found.”

All the recovered stolen property has been returned to the rightful owners.
