OWEN ~ Alison May

March 12, 1906 ~ October 15, 2006

Passed away Sunday, October 15, 2006, in her 101st year.

Predeceased by her husband, Charlie, sisters, Gladys Davenport (twin), Norma Irving, brother Eric Pettie, and survived by her daughter, Myrtle Sorley (Milton), grandchildren, Brenda Angus (John), Randy Sorley (Terri), her great grandchildren, James Angus (Joan), Dena Sorley, Allison Angus, Holly Sorley, nieces, nephews and friends.

May, with her parents and siblings arrived in Maple Ridge in 1919 from England and lived beside Kanaka Creek until her marriage with Charlie Owen in 1927.

Her working experience included hairdressing both in Maple Ridge and Mission, cannery worker at the former Berryland Cannery on Dewdney Trunk Road and related activities aboard Charlie's commercial fishing boats, mainly aboard the "Brenda Dale".

Socially, May, together with Charlie, were active members of the Albion Community Hall from its beginning in 1923. They also were avid bridge players both as hosts and club members and, further, were strong family focussed persons.

In 1993 Charlie passed away leaving May strongly asserting her independence moving to an apartment in downtown Haney where she lived before moving to Golden Ears Retirement Centre to live these remaining six-plus years.

Her family wishes to extend its appreciation to all who contributed to her comforts from afar and nearby, especially the staff and support persons of Golden Ears!!

Please, if desired in lieu of flowers, consider Hospice among the charitable societies that focus upon the needs of the aged.

Celebration of Life Sat., November 4 from 2 ~ 5pm at the Ramada Royalle Inn, 19267 Lougheed Hwy, Pitt Meadows, B.C.
