Birtch – Beverly Ann

(nee Sutherland)

October 24, 1940 ~ September 11, 2006

Bev passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 42 wonderful years, Alan, her children Christopher and Andrea. Her grandchildren Skylar, Madeline, Chloe Oliver, daughter-in-law Julie, son-in-law Harald, brother Ken and his wife Barb. Born in Ontario, Bev moved to BC with Alan. She lived in Maple Ridge for 22 years until she and Alan retired to Harrison Hot Springs, to travel and be a Gramma. Bev graduated from Woodstock School of Nursing in 1963 where she was the winner for proficiency in obstetrical nursing.

After over 25 years of service in the healthcare industry Bev will be remembered for her kindness, compassion and passion for nursing. She looked after many during her years at Maple Ridge Hospital followed by 12 years working within the community as an RN in home health care.

She loved quilting, sewing, gardening, camping and travel. She was a health and exercise enthusiast, a wonderful cook and a deeply loved and cherished wife, mother and Gramma.

Bev’s loving spirit will live on in all of us. We love you and will always treasure our memories of you. A special Thank You to the Doctors and Nurses at the Christine Morrison Hospice, and to Bev’s countless nursing friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mckenney Creek Hospice in memory of Beverly Birtch c/o Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation – 11666 Laity Street, Maple Ridge BC V2X 7G5.
