Christina BROWN

March 25, 2009

BROWN, Christina Jean

Christina passed away quietly on March 25, 2008 at McKenney Creek Hospice with her husband John by her side after a long battle with cancer. Tina was born in England on January 11, 1940 and grew up in Scotland where she met and married John. They immigrated to Canada with their young children in 1968. Tina was a teacher in Maple Ridge for many years and also became a very talented artist. She especially loved to paint flowers and learn new techniques. Tina enjoyed sharing ideas with members of the Garibaldi Art Club and the Group of Nine. She also belonged to the Federation of Canadian Artists.

Tina will be greatly missed by her husband John, daughter Kathleen, son Russell (Sofia), her sisters Loretta and Susan (Ken), sister-in-law Grace (Danny), as well as by her grandchildren Luke, Brianna, Jake, John, Andrea, Paul, great grandson Jonathan, nieces and nephews and many friends.

Tina “fought a grand fight” against cancer and with her positive outlook and support she helped many others with their battle.

The family would like to thank Dr. Simon Yu and staff, Dr. Wasti and Dr. Mawani for their excellent care. A funeral service will be held at Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel (Osborn’s), 11969 216th Street, Maple Ridge on April 4 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to McKenney Creek Hospice.
