PLETT, Clarence

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our father, Clarence R Plett, on the 28th of April, at the McKenney Creek Hospice Residence. Dad was born in Landmark Manitoba on April 3, 1927 to Peter A and Agitha F Plett (nee Reimer). Dad stayed on the farm until he was about 18, then he worked at various jobs, most notably in hospitals in Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal. In the early fifties, Dad came to Vancouver BC, hoping to catch a ship to some foreign land, but the ship wasn't leaving for a few months so he travelled to Prince George where he met the love of his life, Marie Ange (Jackie) Lapointe. They had three children: Joanne, Louise and Clark. In '64 they moved to a house in Maple Ridge, where they lived the rest of their lives. Clarence was a man of unusual warmth, kindness and integrity. His life revolved around his family, his garden and being the best person he could be. He was fond of reading, and had an interest in genealogy. Dad loved to talk to people, and was always talking to a neighbour over the fence. He will be greatly missed by his family, his sister, brothers, and his many friends from Tim Horton's and the Maple Ridge Seniors' Centre. We thank the kind, professional staff at McKenney Creek Hospice, and the PATH unit at Garden View. The service will be private but donations on Clarence's behalf to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
