KIRKPATRICK ~ Doreen

With deep sadness Doreen's family announces the passing of their lovely mother on Sunday evening June 29th, complications associated with Parkinson's Disease. Predeceased by husband, Leslie George and by her parents, Albert and Jean Davison and son-in-law Mark Gillard.

Doreen was a Haney girl born in the family farmhouse on Blackstock Road (now 124th Ave) on April 8, 1930. She grew up during the Depression and War years helping with the family dairy business by delivering products with the horse drawn milk wagon. Two younger sisters Barbara (George) and Diane (Bob) completed the picture. Married in 1948 she and Les had four children: Kerry (Melanie), Dean, Linda and Robert. During the 50's and 60's life focused around the very large extended family; Reid, Hannah, Harris, Hampton,Andersen, and others with big backyard summer picnics for over fifty people. Moved to Chase in retirement on Little Shuswap lake until Les' passing in 1996 and then returning to Maple Ridge to live with her kids. Grandchildren Laurie, Darren, Cory, Keith and Davison; great-granddaughter Chelsea.

God-bless our beautiful mother/ sister/grandma/aunt and friend who was able to face adversity with great dignity, humour and always a calmness of manner. Thank you to Doreen's wonderful personal care- givers (Evelyn and Cheryl), Fraser Health Homecare, and the staff on 2 West at Ridge Meadows hospital. In lieu of flowers a donation to Parkinson's Research would be appreciated.
