Douglas BARBER

January 17, 2005

Barber -Douglas Floyd, born on July 8, 1949 in New Denver, BC went home to his Lord and Saviour , Jesus, on January 17, 2005. His family and friends were by his side and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Doug grew up in Slocan, North Vancouver and Maple Ridge. He graduated from Maple Ridge Secondary School and went on to become a Heavy Duty Mechanic working at Finning Tractor Ltd., BC Dept. of Highways and the BC Correctional Service. He was a hard worker and a gifted mechanic, but he loved God and his family above all else. We will all miss his quiet, soft spoken ways.

Left to grieve his passing are Maria, his wife of 26 years; his sons Matthew (Emily) and Robert (Karina); his daughter Katy, and his grandchildren Myah, Mikayla and Owen Barber; also Doug's parents Paul and Velo Barber; his brother David (Beth) Barber; sister Ruth (Terry) Rich; and nephews Richard (Sally) and Nicholas Barber.

Doug was diagnosed with lung and brain cancer on December 7, 2004. He fought his short battle with cancer with grace and dignity, never complaining or questioning God's goodness or his love for him. His family wishes to thank Dr. D. Chapman for his excellent care and kindness at this time. Also many thanks to loved ones and friends who stood by us in these difficult days.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 24, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Maple Ridge Alliance Church 20399 Dewdney Trunk Rd., Maple Ridge, BC. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Seeds of Hope/ Zambian Orphanage P.O. Box 3474, Mission, BC V2V 4L1
