Douglas Alan Chapman 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 15th at Abbotsford Hospital. Doug’s jocular, kind and friendly manner will be missed by all who knew him. An alumnus of Vancouver Tech, he went on to many jobs; Lumberjack, Photogrammetrist for the Canadian Geological Survey, Geologist, Prospector and Draughtsman. He was most proud of his development of mathematics to apply plate tectonic theories to geological surveys; noted for co-founding Joint Ventures Inc. with Stu Robertson to map and index all the power lines for BC Hydro in British Columbia. He is survived by his children Susan, Pamela, Hugh, Angela and Jason; his grand-children Alexis, Kirsten, Michael, Sophie, Victoria, Johar, Nathan, Althea, Kira, Matthew, Keely, Jacob, Brody and Kiernan; his great grand-children Simon, Elise, Alfie and Lily; his former wives and friends Janet Chapman and Margaret Anderson; dear friend Deanna Jopling and her family, Marc and Crystal Trudeau, Kylie, Jenna and Jhan Tamminga, Jeff and Shirley Jopling, Joseph and Daniel. Born to the late Arthur and Margaret Chapman in 1931 in Vancouver, BC., he was predeceased by his two elder brothers Jack and Art. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in the Gallery at The Cultch, 1895 Venables Street, Wednesday March 29th, 3-6 pm.
