WRIGHT, Edith May


WRIGHT: Edith May born in Merritt, BC on February 9th, 1916, Edith passed away peacefully on June 8th, 2017. Edith was predeceased by her second husband Harry Wright in 1966, grandson Bob Wright in 1995, and youngest son John Wright in 2010. Edith was the second eldest child of John and Hanna (Hogg) Ovington. All of her 8 brothers and sisters have predeceased her. Edith will be lovingly remembered by her daughter June (Thor) Halvorson of Squamish, Son Jack Malm of Maple Ridge, stepson Don (Gin) Wright of Chase, daughter-in-law Diana Wright of Kelowna, Edith is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren . Also missing Edith will be Bill and Betty Ford of Kelowna who the family is thankful for their help and assistance over the years. Edith was born in Colletville (Merritt BC), 101 years ago. Over the years she has lived in Brittannia, Albion, Maple Ridge and in 1994 moved to Kelowna to be closer to her son John and family. A wonderful cook, her famous words when you arrived for a visit would be " Let's put the kettle on." You always left Edith's home with a full belly, a crocheted dishcloth and a smile on your face after visiting such a wonderful and kind lady. Special thanks to the entire caregiver teams at Village at Mill Creek where Edith has spent most of the past seven years. The Wright family is forever grateful for the outstanding and compassionate care Edith had received. No service will be held at Edith's request.
