With deep regret we announce the death of our mother, grandmother, loving sister and auntie, after a mercifully short illness on April 15, 2010.
Betty was born in 1929 in Halifax, Yorkshire and in 1970, with her husband Jim, bravely brought her children Elizabeth, Robert (Lynn) and Linda (Russ Potter) to beautiful Burnaby, B.C. Betty was the third youngest of 13 children and much loved sister-in-law to Jim’s 5 younger siblings. Her surviving sister, Edith (Rothwell Drake) and Eileen (Peter Ibbotson) will deeply miss her loving ways, as will all her brothers and sisters-in-law and many nephews and nieces.
Betty loved her grandchildren, Gavin, Joshua, Rachel and Ben very much and would do anything for them. Betty’s smiling face and twinkling blue eyes, along with her kindness, optimism, and compassion was appreciated by her many friends and co-workers, not least, Joy Forbes and Kay Crocock with whom she travelled far and wide. Betty was a truly wonderful woman who lived an important life dedicated to others. Her devout Catholic faith allowed her to pass over to heaven in the certainty that she would live with God and his angels and saints in heaven.
We welcome you to attend her funeral at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Maple Ridge on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 11am.
