ALLAN - Flora (nee McLeod)
passed away on August 12, 2005 surrounded by those who loved her. Born on October 2, 1920 in Trail, B.C. Survived by daughter Jennifer(Morrison) of Maple Ridge, son David Allan of Nanaimo, nephew Eddie (Joy) Glover and family and nieces Isabelle Donaldson and Ruth (Bob) Findlay and families in Trail. Predeceased by husband Thomas, sisters Jennie Glover and Hannah Morton and son-in-law Russ.
Flora will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her fun loving nature. She had a strong sense of honour and loyalty and did not suffer fools gladly.
Over 11 years ago Flora made Alouette Manor her home and became an active member and supporter of her new community and Alouette family. She kept herself busy and loved her sing a longs with Val, carpet bowling, family socials, bingo and any game that would challenge her mind and test her incredible memory. For many years she kept track of the birthdays of all the residents on Alouette and ensure that they were delivered a hand written card with much fanfare on their special day. She was a devoted Young & The Restless fan and was thrilled to meet several of the cast members in person. In recent years she discovered the casino and would look forward to outings there armed with her bingo money. She served as president of Alouette Manor Resident's Council and was never reluctant to give her opinion on important issues.
She will be dearly missed and loved by all who knew her.
Special thanks to Dr. Martin Milewsky for taking Flora into his care 11 years ago and making such a difference in her life. Thank you to Marie from Hospice and to Jennifer's friends and colleagues at Ridge Meadows Hospital for their excellent care and kindness to Flora. The staff of Aloutte Manor provided Flora with extraordinary medical care, love and compassion. They gave quality, friendship, humour and meaning to her life these past years and comfort in the days leading up to her passing. Her care will always be remembered with sincere gratitude by Flora's family.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation, designated for the Alouette Manor Resident's Council would be appreciated.
Viewing Wednesday, August 17 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Garden Hill Funeral Chapel.
Service Thursday, August 18 at 2:00 pm at Garden Hill 11765 - 224th Avenue, Maple Ridge. Reception to follow.
