Surrounded by his family. Survived by his loving wife Laura and her children Bill (grandchildren Joseph & Holly), Deborah (Bob) grandchildren Lee-Ann & Kendra. Daughter Joanne (Vern) grandchildren Dale (Bobby), Colleen (Bryan), Stephen (Danita), Philip (Susan), Sheryl (Bill); son Glenn (Maureen) grandchildren Tara & Ryan; daughter Dianna (Darrel); son in law Keith, grandchildren Brenna, Evan and Luke; niece Eveline (Leroy) great nephew Cody. Predeceased by his son Clifford, sister Lea Leslie, daughter Catherine and great nephew Morgan. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and many relatives and friends. He was born in Comox to Frederick & Violet Welton. Moved to Vancouver and then in 1948 to Whonnock where he established Whonnock Nursery. Purchased property at 225th & Dewdney Tr. Rd. now known as Maple Ridge Florist. Known as an astute business man, acquiring many real estate properties with his own finance company. After retiring from the florist business, Fred enjoyed many years of hobby farming with his wife Laura. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and loved him. Funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 19th, 2008 at 1:30p.m. at Garden Hill Funeral Chapel 11765 – 224th St. Maple Ridge. Donations to the Salvation Army in Fred’s memory would be appreciated.
