PFLEIDERER ~ Fritz Otto Christof

Dec. 23, 1922 to April 4, 2006 lived to a spry 83 years of age. Born in Heidenheim, Germany he grew up with brothers Dieter (deceased), Wolfgang and sister Margarit. There he ventured into the Alps where he developed his love of mountains, flowers and hiking. His youth was shortened by WWll. After the war he apprenticed to become a professional gardener in Wurzburg, Germany. At this time he met the woman that he would love for the rest of his life, Irma. Fritz looked for a country to live out his dreams for the future and quest to own his very own land. In 1953 he set out to live the Canadian dream. First by sea, then by rail he ventured into the unknown of Vancouver, BC. A year later his love, Irma, would arrive and they began their lives as husband and wife. They found the roots of their home in Albion. He worked until his retirement at the Hammond Cedar Mill. Fritz was the proud father of Wilf, Doris and Richard. He welcomed their spouses with open arms into his family - Heather, Wayne and Kelly. He loved his grandchildren Tristan, Richard, Kristina, Erica, Emma, Laura, Kolby and Lori. His zest and love for life left his legacy of many, many friends. He embraced his love for the outdoors by hunting, fishing and gardening until his journey to the next life. With luck, he is holding Irma's hand and together they are high on mountain tops with his beloved Mountain Goats. As a happy gardener he left 5 new grafted trees to those he loved. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Memorial service was held at Garden Hill Funeral Chapel, 224 Street, Maple Ridge, BC on Tuesday, April 11, 2006
