COLE, George
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Cole on June 6, 2010. George was born September 5, 1920 in Saskatchewan. He will be lovingly remembered and missed beyond words by loving wife Eva of 66 years and daughters Sheryl (Gary) Belsey, Tracy (Gord) Mitt; his grandchildren Darin (Kris) and Darcy Shearer, Ashley (Adam) Popeniuk; and great grandchildren Jesse, Alana and Cash; his sisters and brothers Allen (Rae) Cole, Glen (Dorothy) Cole, Rene (Elie) Musa, June Mulligan, Freda Rowan, Pearl Geraldi and predeceased by Owen (Shirley) Cole, Patsy (Wes) McFarland; parents Frank and Rose Cole. George grew up on Vancouver Island, where at one time he was an Alderman for the City of Port Alberni. He moved to the mainland in 1967 taking a position with Canadian Union of Public Employees as a National Representative. George was a Master Mason and was affiliated with Prince David Lodge, and was a member of Royal Arch and Rose Croix. He was loved and respected by everyone. George’s kind and charming manner, along with a pinch of mischief, touched countless hearts and formed loving bonds that spanned decades. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 1 o’clock at the MAPLE RIDGE FUNERAL CHAPEL (Osborn’s), 11969-216th St., Maple Ridge. Reception to follow.
