Dumont, George Gerald
George Gerald Dumont, 81 years, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2008 at Holyrood Manor. George was born and raised in Saskatchewan, moving to Vancouver in 1944 to join with his brothers. In 1947, he met Olga, who he married in July 1948. George and Olga celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. He was employed at the Sawmill for 20+ years then joined the Coquitlam School District, where he worked for an additional 23 years, retiring in 1989. George loved to dance. He was a member of the Maple Ridge Line Dance Club and Maple Ridge Square Dancers until 2003. If he wasn’t busy dancing, he could be found making many things in his woodworking shop. George is survived by his loving wife Olga, children; Judy (Cliff), Robert (Linda), Nancy (Barry), Allan, Gordon (Colleen), Marian (Fred), grandchildren; Shawn (Sarah), Coralee (Kelly), Tracey (Ken), Glenn, Neil, Brent, Gina, Tyler, and great grandson Calvin. Also survived by four brothers, 6 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews, Predeceased by grandson Derek Visentin, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Prayers will be held on Friday October 31, 2008 @ 8:00 pm followed by Funeral Mass on November 1, 2008 @ 2:00 pm in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 22561 121 Ave., Maple Ridge, B.C. with Rev. Father R. Au officiating. I lieu of flowers , donations to the Alzheimer Society of B.C., #300 – 828 West 8th Ave. Vancouver, BC V5Z 1E2 or charity of your choice.
