TIEMSTRA, Hylke
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Hylke, husband, father, and friend surrounded by his family on March 14, 2010, at the age of 89 years. Hylke met and married Neeltje in Holland in 1947 and immigrated to Canada in 1953. Prior to leaving Holland they had two sons: Frits and Garry. In 1956 they moved to East Vancouver and had three more sons: Ronald, Raymond and Gordon. They lived there until 1990 when they moved to Maple Ridge. Hylke was predeceased by his wife in 2008 and his son Frits in 2001. Hylke is survived and lovingly remembered by his children: Garry (Ginette), Ron, Ray (Caren), and Gord (Noelle), grandchildren: David (Diana), Stephen (Niki), James, Kory, Michelle (Cary), Jason, Melissa, Tyler, Benjamin, Logan and Andrea; and great-grandchildren: Isaac, Ethan, Abigail, Kate, and Gage. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 11:00 am at the MAPLE RIDGE FUNERAL CHAPEL (Osborn’s), 11969 - 216th Street, Maple Ridge, B.C. with refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
