HARTY, Isabel Doreen (nee Sharpe)

Isabel passed away peacefully in Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 85 years. She leaves behind her loving husband of 65 years Gordon; her daughter Heather Bamsey (Shuster); sons, Gordon Jr. (Dorothy), Mike (Fran), Pat (Rita), Sean (Zena), and Fred (Cheri); 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; brothers Jack and Bill Sharpe; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Isabel was born the 2nd in a family of 5 children in the family home in Pitt Meadows, BC. Her childhood was spent in Pitt Meadows and Ireland. In 1937 she was the first and only Pitt Meadows May Queen. She was a veteran of the World War II. In 1945 she married Gordon Harty and they resided in Pitt Meadows until 1976, later moving to Williams Lake and then Chilliwack. Isabel's enjoyment of family especially her grandchildren and great grand- children leave a legacy of cherished memories. Isabel was predeceased by her infant son, Douglas; father John James Sharpe; mother Marion; brother Ernest (Joe) and sister Elizabeth (Lilly). Isabel was greatly loved and will be sorely missed. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Luke's Catholic Church 20285 Dewdney Trunk Road, Maple Ridge, BC on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to Vancouver Children's Hospital.
