Isabelle MACDONALD

May 3, 2005

Isabelle Betsy MacDonald - (Nee Smith)

1906 - 2005

Isabelle was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on June 12, 1906. She passed away peacefully at Alouette Manor, at the age of 98, having lived a full and rewarding life. Isabelle's outstanding career as an educator in Manitoba, spanned over 25 years. In her time, she was the Principal of Argyle, Gladstone, Victoria Albert and John M. King schools. In 1964, Isabelle retired and moved to Lambeth, Ontario, to marry Bob MacDonald and to provide loving support to his children Dougald and Jean. In 1966, Bob and Isabelle relocated to B.C., eventually to settle in Maple Ridge. Isabelle immediately became involved in St. Andrew's United Church, the University Women's Club and the community.

Isabelle was predeceased by Bob in 1999. She leaves her step-children Dougald (Shirley) of Gibsons and Jean Lewis (Ron) of Abbotsford. Isabelle was especially proud of her 4 grandsons: Derek and Ross MacDonald and Craig (Patti and daughter Lydia) and Scott Lewis. Her loving cousins Helen Galloway (Bill) and Isabel Fraser provided incredible support.

The family would like to thank the staff of Alouette Manor for their excellent care and the faithful friends whose visits meant so much over the years. A Memorial Service was held at St. Andrew's United, Maple Ridge, BC. on Tuesday May 3.
