KOGA ~ Itsuo (Toby)

Passed away peacefully at home, with his family at his side, on March 27th, 2006. Born in Fukuoka-shi, Japan on March 14th, 1944, Toby immigrated to Canada in 1956. He settled with his parents and siblings in Paldi on Vancouver Island and attended school in nearby Lake Cowichan. As a young man, he moved to Vancouver to attend college and in 1969, met his future wife, Arlene. They married the following year and soon settled in Maple Ridge where they raised three children. Toby recently retired from the electrical contracting industry where he worked as an estimator for over 30 years. Toby will be remembered as being a devoted husband and father, who loved music and the movies. He and Arlene also shared a love of traveling, gardening, and the outdoors. Toby is survived by his wife, Arlene, and three children, Derek (Kathy), Steven (Jasmina) and Erin. He is predeceased by his father, Tomoyuki and leaves behind his mother, Hisako, three siblings, Hiro (Pauline), Emiko (Mel) and Judy (Michael) and several nieces and nephews. He will always be loved and greatly missed by all. Toby’s family would like to thank everyone for all the love and support they received from family and friends throughout the past months. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 1st at 3:00 P.M. in the MAPLE RIDGE FUNERAL CHAPEL (Osborn’s), 11969-216th Street. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
