JENKINS, Ivor Owen

Dec. 12, 1930 ~ Sept. 19, 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ivor Owen Jenkins. Ivor is survived by his loving wife Doris, daughter Kathryn (Alex), sons Al (Brenda) and Dave, grandchildren Megan, Nicholas and Lauren., and his brothers, Brian (Jean) and Allan (Rose). Ivor will be remembered fondly by all of us, as well as the many other relatives and friends whose lives he enriched. Ivor was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta with Brian, Allan and his, much missed, late brother David. After qualifying as a licensed plumber, a life of public service beckoned and Ivor joined the RCMP, graduating in 1954. It was a career he relished and his balanced outlook and complete discretion led him to spend much of it with the Security Service. There are many who will never know or ever have the chance to thank the quiet, calmly, professional guy watching out for them. As a private, modest man that is the only way Ivor would have wanted it. Ivor left the Force in 1977 and put his knowledge and skill as a plumber, carpenter and general handyman to good use as a Property Manager for Public Works Canada until he retired in 1989. We will all miss his gentle smile, his good humour and his warm heart. The family are grateful to Dr Ivanov and to the teams at Baillie House and the Emergency Ward at Ridge Meadows Hospital for the kindness of their care during Ivor's illness. A Memorial Service will be held at the Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel 11969 216th Street, Maple Ridge, on September 24, at 4:00 PM with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation, Baillie House, in memory of Ivor.
