James Leighton. ARMSTRONG

December 23, 2005

ARMSTRONG – James Leighton.

Feb. 28, 1948 – Dec. 23, 2005.

We lost Jim after his long, hard battle with diabetes. Jim was employed with the Provincial Government for more than 25 years. He was with Highways, Vehicle Management and finally, his most rewarding I.T.A.C. Jim was a tradesman himself and always spoke of the importance of trades and apprenticeship. He was well respected by co-workers and he respected them. Jim had many hobbies over the years. Drag racing at Mission, engine building, hot rodding his 51 chev., amateur radio (VE7-AZJ), he played hockey with Richmond O-Ji-Sans, dirt bike riding and racing, cycling, woodworking and model railroading with his young son Mitchell. Jim’s greatest love was his family, his wife for 34 years Riekie and their 3 beautiful children Ashley, 16, James, 14, and Mitchell, 12. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Autism B.C. for his sons. A final farewell to Jim will be held on Sunday, January 15th at 2:00 pm at Maple Ridge Golf Course, 20818 Golf Lane (off 207th). 604-465-9221. Open mike. All are welcome.
