MacDONALD, Jane Lisbeth (nee Twadell)

Passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on August 9th, 2010 at the age of 73 after a brief struggle with cancer. Survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Dr. Rod MacDonald; 3 daughters, Leslie (Russ); Karen (Alex); and Diane (Dave); 2 grandchildren whom she adored, Jed (age 11) and Megan (age 9); 2 sisters, Deborah Twadell and Peggy Leis, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family in Canada and the U.S.A. Pre-deceased by her beloved sister Judith Strack in 1983. Jane was born in Wichita Kansas on June 26, 1937 to Dr. Bayard & Mrs. Neva Twadell, the second of four daughters. Raised in Iola Kansas, she moved to Kansas City and San Francisco where she worked as an airline stewardess for TWA. Returning to Kansas City she met her future husband, a dental student from Canada. They married soon after and stayed in KC until 1960 after the birth of their first daughter and Rod’s graduation from dental school. They moved to Maple Ridge, B.C. where they settled and saw the birth of their second and third daughters. Jane loved her family, close friends, and animals – she enjoyed entertaining in her home, travelling, painting, and shopping! She was a wonderful wife and an involved, loving and supportive mother. Known as a beautiful, caring, generous woman, Jane had a great sense of humor and quick wit. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Hyams, Dr. MacPherson, the nurses and care staff of Fraser Valley health, and all the good friends & extended family that supported us over the past year. A celebration of Jane’s life will be held Sunday, September 12th at 2:00 pm at Burnett Fellowship Church, 20639-123rd Ave., Maple Ridge. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
