PETRIE ~ Julia

It is with great sadness the family of Julia Petrie announces her passing on January 9, 2009. Born in Kingman Alberta on December 15, 1919; the 11th of 15 children for Tom and Marie Kozack. After coming to BC Julia worked at a variety of jobs including Rogers' sugar before settling on a career in customer service. She worked at Woodward's food floor as a cashier and later at Safeway for many years. She married Clement Petrie in 1956 and adopted her only child in 1964. She will be fondly remembered as an avid gardener, devoted to her family, and an enthusiastic world traveler by all who knew her. She is predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Joanne; her son-in-law Joseph and her grandsons Daniel, Paul, and James; as well as numerous nieces/nephews, extended family and friends. This remarkable woman and devoted mother was the greatest gift that any person could ever hope to receive. We count ourselves truly blessed to have been "chosen" into her life. We thank God for the time we had together and trust that she is now back in his loving care. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday January 21st at 11AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church 22587-121 Ave. Maple Ridge.
