Cuddeford, Margaret McMillan

(nee: Greig)

14 Dec, 1921 - 29 September, 2008

With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mom, Margaret after a short stay in the Victoria General Hospital. Margaret was born in Glasgow, Scotland. During WWII, she proudly served in the WRNS, maintaining aircraft in the fleet air arm of the Royal Navy. She met her husband Leonard, then of the Royal Canadian Army, at a dance. As a war bride, Mom travelled to her new country, and started a family with Len in Kelowna B.C. There she worked as a nurse's aide. The family relocated to West Vancouver in 1958 and Port Coquitlam in 1964. After Len passed away, Mom moved to Maple Ridge in 1995 and lived at the wonderful Legion Garden apartments until moving to Victoria in November 2007.

Friends will fondly remember Margaret's wit and humour and those of us so fortunate will remember her cooking, baking and especially her fabulous soups. She was a proficient knitter and created many wonderful sweaters for her children and grandchildren. Mom was always concerned for those less fortunate and supported the Union Gospel Mission.

We wish to thank Dr. Ted Rosenberg and staff and especially the nurses of 6C north at Victoria General Hospital for their gentle care tending to mom's every need making her passing so comfortable. That she passed so peacefully is of great comfort to those of us left behind.

Predeceased by her husband Leonard, in 1993, Margaret is survived by her three children Donald (Maggie), China and Roy (Joan), Winnipeg, Cheryl (Tim) of Victoria, grandchildren Ryan, Leanne, Alex and Lauren.

A Celebration of mom's life will take place at the Maple Ridge Legion, 12101 224th street (604-463-5101) on Saturday October 18th at 2pm. All friends are welcome to attend.
