YASKOW, Martha

Dec. 7, 1928 - June 6, 2017

Martha Yaskow, of Maple Ridge, B.C., passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Tuesday, June 6th at the age of 88.

Martha, daughter of Julianna and Frank Borkowsky, was born December 7th, 1928 in Steinbach, Manitoba. Martha, one of 11 children, was raised on the family farm and her love for gardening stayed with her. Martha married Neil Yaskow, August 23rd, 1952 and moved to B.C. Martha kept busy raising a family, gardening, sewing and knitting, and we all miss her cooking and baking. She was also a long standing member of the Alter guild at their church. Martha worked for a number of years as a health care aide. Upon retirement, Martha was involved as a scorekeeper for the horseshoe club where Neil played, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and travelling with Neil.

Martha was predeceased by her mom and dad, siblings, Alfreda, Justine, William, Adolph, Eddy, Minnie, Lillie, Elsie and Elma, and her beloved husband Neil. Martha is survived by her sister Lorraine (Joe), son Wayne Yaskow (Janice), daughters Sandra Ransom (Merle) and Elaine Pidcock (Gordon). Grandchildren, Sharon, Neil (Jamie), Alana (Andrew), Daryl, Ryan and Lisa, and great grandchildren, Kiyah, Emily, and Ardyn.

A memorial service will be held at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Maple Ridge on June 19, at 1:30pm.
