Maureen Cecile GIBB

September 27, 2005

"Thank you and bless you, dear family, friends and associates, who have shared, and cared with me in my years in this old world"

Gibb, Maureen Cecile (nee Walker), born Vancouver May 31, 1937, passed away September 27, 2005 in Maple Ridge. Survived by brothers Wally (Joan) and Ken (Susan), nephews Neil and Adam, and step-nieces Leanne (Stavros) and Ruth. Maureen grew up in Burnaby and moved to Maple Ridge 28 years ago. Along the way, she made many friends that were near and dear to her. She loved live theatre and volunteered at the Maple Ridge Arts Centre and Theatre (ACT). She enjoyed many years with friends in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was captain of her neighborhood Block Watch. Maureen overcame all challenges when she participated in Outward Bound in 1989 at age 52. She learned she had an inner strength that comforted her during her battles with cancer. Since retiring as Executive Secretary at Nabob Foods in 1994, Maureen enjoyed her house and yard and spent many summers at her Timothy Lake cabin. She loved feeding the backyard birds and adored her pets, Cali dog and Kaycee cat. A gathering to celebrate Maureen's life is to be held at the Maple Ridge Arts Centre and Theatre, 11944 Haney Place, November 2, between noon and 2:00 PM, with a remembrance ceremony at 12:30 PM. Bring along your memories and stories to share. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maureen's name can be made to the Salvation Army or Katie's Domestic Animal Resource and Education Society of Maple Ridge, BC, 20803 Camwood Ave., Maple Ridge, BC, V2X2N9
