BARNEY ~ Oliver Joseph
Passed away peacefully on October 7, 2007 at 77 years of age. Predeceased by parents Wallace and Fanny Barney, brothers Delbert and Walter, sister Mildred, and grandson Chris. Survived by his loving family: hildren, Greg (Jan), Scott (Janet), Heather Malcolm), and Laurel (Gregg); cherished grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Neil, Melissa, Gillian, and Tyler; great-grandchildren Brielle and Jayden; brothers David and Merle; sister Lou; former wife Mary (Gord); and many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. Ollie was devoted to his family. He had a strong work ethic and he was a life long sport volunteer, highlighted by his involvement in GEU soccer in Maple Ridge with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ollie’s game was rugby and he was active in the Burnaby Twilighters Rugby Club. He dearly loved both the sport and the camaraderie of his teammates. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to St. Michael’s Hospice in Burnaby for their kind care and support. A Memorial Service was held on October 12, 2007 at Burquitlam Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Foundation or the charity of ones choice.
