Pia HYND

October 16, 2006

On October 16th, Pia passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord. Born February 8, 1923 in Casarsa, Italy, she met her beloved Jim, a member of the British 8th Army in 1945, married him in 1946 and returned to his home in Alexandria, Scotland. In 1952, her son Roy was born and in 1960 the family moved to Brighton, England where Pia and Jim ran the Western Hotel. In 1966 the family moved to Canada and settled in Prince Rupert. There Pia had many friends and was socially active. She was especially well known for her gorgeous costumes at the annual costume balls - truly award winning. Jim passed away in 1981 and Pia stayed in Prince Rupert until she retired from her job at the local hospital in 1988 and moved to Comox where she enjoyed her retirement staying there until 2003 when she moved to Maple Ridge to be closer to son Roy and his family. Pia is predeceased by husband Jim, sisters Fatima, Inez and Maria and is survived and will be missed by son Roy, daughter in law Marian, grand- children Andrew and Megan, brother Luigi in Italy and sister Iole in Calgary. Many nieces and nephews, friends and family in the places she has lived will mourn her loss as well. Pia asked that no service be held so her wishes will be followed. Please donate to a charity of your choice instead of sending flowers. The family also wishes to thank the caring staff of Alouette Manor and Baillie House for their compassion and attentiveness in tending to Pia in her final days. God Bless, Mom.
