MAHYR ~ Sophia
It is with great sadness that the family of Sophia Mahyr, formerly of Agassiz and Chilliwack, and more recently of Willow Manor in Maple Ridge,announces her peaceful passing on January 11, 2006 at the age of 90 years.
Sophia Mahyr was born June 17, 1915 in the Ukraine. She immigrated to Canada in the late 1920's and married Steve Mahyr who became her husband of 71 years.
Sophia was predeceased by her husband Steve, her daughter, Lillian and her son, Ronald. She is survived by five children: Eve, Joyce (Norm), Arlene ( Boyce), John (Arden) and Rose (Patrick). She leaves behind a very loving extended family including 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and two great great grand- children.
Sophia was the matriarch and centre of her family and will be missed by all including many friends. Many thanks to the staff and friends at Willow Manor for their kind and generous spirits. They brought much joy to Sophia's life. Many thanks as well to the doctors and staff at Ridge-Meadows Hospital for their wonderful care of her.
Funeral Service was held Tuesday, January 17th, 2006 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Maple Ridge. Interment was held the same day at Little Mountain Cemetery in Chilliwack.
